Customer Friendly Videos Make Sense

The 7.9% annual surge in used car sales during 2016 has been mirrored with a ‘significant’ increase in dealers using personalised video.

Automotive video expert CitNOW says it has seen a double-digit increase in dealers who already use its workshop video technology now adopting its web and sales in the last quarter.

Alistair Horsburgh said, ‘It’s no coincidence that the growth in used cars, aligned to record new, has seen a significant shift in dealers switching onto using video as a sales tool since September.

‘With high stock levels, competition for sales even within a growing marketplace, still means dealers need to act to capture the attention of buyers quicker in order to keep stock moving.’

Analysis by CitNOW showed that the length of time used stock at 120 Volkswagen dealers spent on the forecourt was reduced by 14 days on average when the dealer used video communications via CitNOW’s web product.

Vehicles advertised online with a CitNOW web video spent an average of 32 days in stock before being purchased, while those without a video spent 46 days in stock – two full weeks longer.

CitNOW Web enables retailers to upload a short video of used vehicle stock to their website via a smartphone. Potential customers can watch the video and request a personalised video of particular vehicles.

Retailers can fulfil this request using the CitNOW sales app, and create a bespoke video paying particular attention to detail that is needed to accurately report the condition of a used vehicle.

25% admit to parking bumps

Thursday, 4 December 2014

One in four drivers admit to bumping into another vehicle while parking, according to a recent parking psychology survey conducted by Citroën UK

One in four drivers in Britain also do not consider themselves to be confident when parking their car.

Significantly, 43% of drivers experience an increased feeling of anxiety when parking with passengers in the car, particularly a partner or spouse – 45% of women and 31% of men found the presence of their ‘significant other’ to be the main cause of increased anxiety. Notably, having their mother-in-law in the car came bottom of the list, with just three per cent finding her to be the main reason for increased nervousness when parking.

When it comes to parallel parking, a third of drivers surveyed admitted to not being able to parallel park on their first attempt. This parking manoeuvre also topped the list for 18-24 year olds as the most feared element of their driving test.

Citroën UK’s survey found that parking confidence does increase with age and experience. 44% of 18-24 year olds said they do not consider themselves confident parkers, compared to just 23% of the 55+ age group.

Regionally; Northern Irish, Scottish and Welsh drivers were revealed as the most confident parkers (77%, 76% and 75% respectively said they were confident), whilst London had the lowest proportion of confident parkers, with 32% saying they did not consider themselves to be confident.
